Noraj Cue is a guy who lives in the north of the Netherlands. Born as Jaron van de Weg in ’81. He grew up in a family where music always was around either played by records or by family members on the piano or the guitar. At a young age he started with experimenting and used a simple keyboard, because of the drumcomputer and the synths. Several times a week, mostly when his parents were out. He gathered some pots and pans, laundry baskets, dustbins. And putted them upside down, lined them up and started jamming. Including his fathers guitar on which he broke several strings. But not before he pressed “rec” on his doubledeck tape recorder using 2 cassettes to record over each play. He was totally hooked on the idea that a single person could make music sound like if more people were playing instruments. At the age of 13 in ‘94 his parents bough his first IBM286 pc with a sequencer based mucisprogram called “soundclub”.
There were probably more people around that time that preffered fasttracker as an example. But the method soundclub used, came close to the basics he learnt from pianoles s ons .For many years all sounds stayed between the walls of the bedroom because besides the fun it was mainly just a way to express his feelings, or a way to archive life experiences like a diary can be for a writer. A few programs and years of digging and diving into the history of music in general he started carefully posting productions on music community sites like Acidplanet, Livesets, FOEM etc. And learnt alot from other musicians. From there he evolved his sound and techniques to the sound it is today. With releases on labels like Manual Music, Connaisseur, Blackhole Rec, Bla Bla, BluFin & Rawthentic + recently played and charted by artists like Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha, Paul Hazendonk, Dave Clarke, Carlo Lio, Jeroen Verheij / Secret Cinema to name a few, this guy is definitely worth checking out for more.
