Yoshitoshi Recordings

Yoshitoshi began in 1994 as the label project of Deep Dish, the Grammy-winning duo of Sharam and Dubfire. Throughout the past twenty-four years, Yoshitoshi has shaped the sound of dance music with classics like Eddie Amador’s “House Music,” Alcatraz’s “Giv Me Luv,” Chiapet’s “Westworld,” and many more. Pioneering styles like techno, tech house, and progressive house, Yoshitoshi’s influence throughout dance music is felt widely today. Now owned and operated exclusively by Sharam, Yoshitoshi was synonymous with its legendary record store on M street, which closed in 2006. The label moved to an office in a DC suburb that has served as the headquarters for both the label and Sharam ever since.Yoshitoshi continues to release both digital music and vinyl records from some of the world’s premiere artists in house and techno. The Yoshitoshi Classics project, launched in 2014 for the label’s 20th anniversary, is a celebratory release series that pairs the best classics from the back catalogue with modern remixers to bring the records new life. The Classics project has been met with immense success, fueling interest in the label from a new generation of dance music lovers and record collectors. In 2017, Yoshitoshi was voted one of the top 50 most influential labels of the previous decade in a worldwide poll by Mixmag.
