The past twelve months have been career-defining for DJ/producer/vocalist Marck Jamz. It was the multi-disciplinarian’s hook-up with Josh Butler on the Defected-released ‘Horizon’, which really thrust him into the public consciousness. To get the seal of approval from scene-heavyweights Kerri Chandler and Marshall Jefferson is quite the endorsement. Plaudits aside, the Norwegian artist has an enviable list of collaborators, including Solardo, Lee Walker, Max Chapman and Illyus & Barrientos. Counting Cajmere’s Cajual records, Chandler’s Madtech & Miguel Migs’ Salted Music imprints amongst the labels he has released on, it’s evident Marck is making moves in all the right places.Having started his songwriting career as a hip-hop artist at sweet sixteen, it was after he discovered the raw, jackin’ house grooves of Mark Farina that Jamz’s career went down a different path. Today, the distinct influence of hip-hop can still be heard in his productions. In a seemingly short space of time, he has already accomplished so much. And yet, the best is still to come. Never one to rest on his laurels, his recent achievements only serve as a platform to eclipse them in the year ahead.
